The Cuba Libre (Spanish for Free Cuba) originated around 1900 in Havana, Cuba. This is a celebration drink made with rum, cola, and a lime. In the majority of the western world this is known as a "rum and coke"... but as we're in Miami, FL and we're surrounded by a huge cuban and latino population.. we'll call it a Cuba Libre!
Alabama Slammer - Cocktails or Shots
The Alabama Slamma (or officially the "slammer") is a popular shot in bars and is easy to make at home too. This can be made as a cocktail for one or to lineup a few shots for you and your friends. Its a strong one, so don't dismiss the soco (southern comfort) that's fueling this smooth-looking character. It does have a bite, but only if you want it to.
Fill a glass with ice and add in the following ingredients: Southern Comfort, sloe gin, Amaretto, and orange juice. Shake this up and pour into either a medium glass (if you are making a solo cocktail), or right into shot glasses. This recipe makes about 4 shots total. Simply double the ingredients if you want to make more.
Ingredients
- 1oz Amaretto
- 1oz Sloe gin
- 1oz Southern Comfort
- 3oz Orange juice
Optional: Orange slice as a garnish
