Sorrel Bounce Rum Drink

Sorrel Bouce Rum DrinkA Sorrel "bounce" is a mixed drink made from the juice is drawn from the red sepals of the Roselle plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa) [which is commonly called sorrel in the Caribbean] and dark rum.

Backgrounder - Sorrel is a favourite West Indian drink for Christmas and New Year. It is really more of a spicey kind of iced tea, as the juice is strong.

Take a highball drink glass and add ice and drown the ice in the rum. Pour the glass to the top with Sorrel. Mix and Serve cold. You can often make a pitcher of this and the whole gang will enjoy.

Ingredients

  • 2 shots of dark or white rum from Trinidad
  • Ice cubes
  • 2 cups of Sorrel (made from either fresh or dried sorrel flower leaves)

Stir this until thoroghly mixed up. This is a smooth drink with the sweet/sour taste of Sorrel, mixed in nicely with the rum. Big UP!
